Προσαρμογή gitconfig για git send-mail credentials & smtppass

'Εχω αρχίσει να δουλεύω με git send-mail για sourcehut projects, μέχρι τώρα όλα καλα

Το πρόβλημα που αντιμετωπίζω είναι με το .gitconfig για τώρα είναι ως εξής:

[user]
    email = johndoe@host.com
    name = John Doe
    signingkey = <mysignkey>
[commit]
    gpgsign = true
[format]
    subjectPrefix = [PATCH]
[sendemail]
    smtpserver = smtp.johndoe.com
    smtpuser = johndoe@host.com
    smtpencryption = ssl
    smtpserverport = 465
    smtppass = my-password-in-clear-text

πως μπορώ να θέσω το smtppass ως pass command αντί να είναι σε clear-text?

Δλδ να πάρει το output από ας πούμε pass show host.com/johndoe.com | sed -n '2p που θέτω συνήθως

Δεν ξέρω αν βοηθάει (γιατί κάτι άλλο ρωτάς ουσιαστικά) αλλά εδώ λέει

Furthermore, passwords need not be specified in configuration files or on the command line. If a username has been specified (with --smtp-user or a sendemail.smtpUser), but no password has been specified (with --smtp-pass or sendemail.smtpPass), then a password is obtained using git-credential.
